Fine Art

I am a figurative painter practicing in West London. After completing my undergraduate degree in History of Art at Cambridge University, I studied Fine Art for a year at Morley College Chelsea.

My work explores female adolescence as a battleground where perceptions of power and agency are negotiated and contested. I draw inspiration for my artwork primarily from real life, incorporating elements from interactions with friends and family, as well as influences from cinema. In my large, multi-figure paintings, I like to position my subjects in subtly peculiar or unconventional poses. Whether they're perched on the steps of a staircase or reclined on the floor, these arrangements imbue the scene with a distinct sense of eeriness. My intention is to transport the viewer into an intimate, private sphere, where they feel almost like intruders stumbling upon a moment frozen in time.

While my compositions give an impression of spontaneity and happenstance, there's a deliberate element to the staging and posing of my subjects. I often draw upon art historical references, particularly in portraying women, to underscore the artificiality inherent in their representation throughout art history. Additionally, my work is influenced by cinematic techniques, with admiration for the stylings of Sofia Coppola, as well as contemporary music and literature. These diverse influences converge to shape the unique narrative and atmosphere within my artwork.
